Scope and Mandate

The Way Memorial Trust was established through a generous bequest to Queen’s to support research in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. The award will be provided to such candidates as shall possess extraordinary scholastic ability, a record of accomplishment, integrity of character, a strong sense of dedication and shall be restricted to graduates of Queen’s University at Kingston or professors or associate professors of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science.

Eligibility

  1. Tenured or tenure-track faculty members at the rank of professor or associate professor whose primary appointment is in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science.

  2. Tenured or tenure-track faculty members at the rank of professor or associate professor in departments in the Faculty of Arts and Science that offer engineering programs who whose primary contribution is to engineering education and research.

Funding Details

One award will be valued at 10,000.00 per year for two years. The instalments will be made available at the beginning of September each year.

Applicants are asked to submit a current CV (NESRC CCV preferred) and a five page research proposal based on a provided template.

Deadline

Applicants are encouraged to submit an application to the faculty office no later than July 31 to the following email address: FEAS.researchadmin@queensu.ca

Adjudication Process

The Dean of Engineering and Applied Science will convene a small committee to make recommendations. The committee will assess the applications based on the quality of the applicant, the proposed research and the fit with the terms of reference as articulated by the donor.
