NEW VIDEO: Dr. Joshua Marshall leads innovative robotic loading research at the Mining Systems Lab

Posted on September 17, 2014

Dr. Marshall's research focuses on mining systems and involves the development and application of advanced methods for perception, modelling, and control of mining equipment and processes. Recent examples include robotic mapping and vehicle positioning, multivehicle coordination, and autonomous vehicle technologies for mining and planetary applications. His objective is to foster inventive yet practical ways for realizing low-cost, high-output, inherently safe, and environmentally responsible mining and exploration operations. An important aspect of this effort is the problem of closely integrating new methods with mine planning and design. Beyond traditional mining, Dr. Marshall also has a keen interest in planetary (space) and extreme-environments mining research.
