Dr Claire Davies, an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, has earned the Excellence in Education Award from the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS).

The award recognizes outstanding contributions to the educational environment in the FEAS and, in Davies’ case, for her inter-faculty curriculum, community based projects, and active-learning approach to teaching. It comes with $10,000 for her to spend in support of her work.

“Working toward interdisciplinary training of students across faculties is essential to ensure our students are prepared for life beyond the university walls,” says Davies. “It is nice to be recognized for my collaborative work with other faculties and within the wider community. The funds will be used to leverage academic resources, such as 3D printing and collaborative student engagement, to make assistive technology more accessible to end users who need it.”
